2020 Charity Donation Sum Announced

By | News | No Comments

Last month, we took the difficult decision to notify you all of the cancellation of our flagship Tour of the Candovers sportive event, which should have taken place over the past weekend.

Whilst we were gutted to have to cancel all 3 of our events this year due to the Covid-19 situation, we shared with you our plans to donate all proceeds taken by entries and donations to Naomi House & Jacksplace, our charity partner, to try and bring some positivity to the situation and at least give something to the amazing charity who still carry out their work even during these difficult times.

We are delighted to announce that we have as of this week donated £605.58 to the charity. Whilst this is a much smaller figure than we would have expected at the start of the year, we are incredibly grateful to be in a position to give something back to the guys at the hospice.

We would like to thank those that gave their support for the events throughout the year despite the setbacks and those who donated extra funds to the charity. We hope that 2021 will be a better year and that we can run our events again.

Keep an eye out for more announcements in the coming months, but in the mean time we hope you all stay safe anf well.

Tour of the Candovers 2020 Update

By | News | No Comments

Here at Tour of the Candovers we’ve been keeping our eyes on the news from British Cycling as the rules & guidelines on sportives & events has constantly evolved.

For those who aren’t aware, British Cycling recently revealed a statement confirming that there will be no sportive events allowed throughout September, news which does sadly mean we confirm we will be cancelling our Candovers event for 2020.

We had hoped that there might be a way to run the event this year and support Naomi House & Jacks Place, but for the riders & staffs safety, it is no longer feasible.

For those who have already entered the event earlier this year, we will be donating all revenues to our worthy charity partner, Naomi House & Jacks Place. This has been our policy for all cancelled events in 2020 and we hope those entered can understand this decision.

Furthermore, events like ours have been cancelled up and down the country, cutting vital fundraising efforts to charities like them. Our candovers event is the main fundraiser of the year for us, and in previous editions has raised as much as £3000 for the charity, sadly that will not be the case this year. Instead, we have added to our website the option to make £5 donations to the charity, to try and show our support to the amazing work done at Naomi House & Jacks Place, that hasn’t slowed since the coronavirus pandemic.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused from the cancellation of all of our events but thank you for your ongoing support, we are already looking forward to putting on some more events in 2021.

Please drop us an email on events@tourofthecandovers.co.uk if you have any questions or queries. Otherwise, we hope to see you fit and well on the road in 2021.

King regards,

The Tour of the Candovers Sportives team

Tour of the Candovers 2020 & Covid-19

We hope you are all safe and well.
As I am sure most of you are aware, British Cycling in recent weeks announced an extension to the ban on BC sanctioned events to June 30th. This unfortunately means that we will no longer be able to run our Tour of the Meons event on Sunday 14th June.
The safety of our riders & volunteers are the most important thing to us, and whilst we were hoping to go ahead with our June event, we fully respect the reasoning behind the ban extension.
A while ago we announced that following the cancellation of our first event (originally due for this weekend) that those who had already entered will be given the option to defer their entry to another of our 2020 events, otherwise all money collected so far will be donated to our charity partners Naomi House & Jacks Place.

Following the forced cancellation of The Tour of the Meons on June 14th, all entries from both the Meons and Worthys event will be given the option to defer entry to our final event this year, The Tour of the Candovers on 6th September. If however this would not be possible, then proceeds will be passed onto Naomi House & Jacks Place, as previously communicated.
We will be in contact with those who entered over the next few days to arrange a solution, so please bare with us.
In the mean time, we are very hopeful we will still be going ahead with the 2020 edition of the Tour of the Candovers, so we hope to see you fit and healthy on Sunday 6th September. We would also like to be able to host a second event later in 2020, so keep an eye out for more details in the coming months.
Thanks
